Branford Marsalis is a three-time Grammy Award® winner who has continued to exercise and expand his skills as an instrumentalist, a composer, and the head of Marsalis Music, the label he founded in 2002.
The label allowed him to produce both his own projects and those of the jazz world’s most promising new and established artists. From his early acclaim as a saxophonist, he has refined and expanded his talents and his horizons as a musician, composer, bandleader and educator – a 21st Century mainstay of artistic excellence.
The Branford Marsalis Quartet has long been recognized as the standard to which other ensembles of its kind must be measured. In December 2015, they were joined by guest vocalist Kurt Elling for an engagement in New Orleans which culminated with three days in the studio creating the collaborative album, "Upward Spiral."
