The Clayton Brothers
The Clayton Brothers is the brain child of saxophonist Jeff Clayton who in the late 70s made his first recording with brother John, a bassist. This occasion marked the official inception of The Clayton Brothers as a working ensemble and over the decades they have left an indelible mark in jazz with their inventive work and within different formats. Jeff's love of small groups lead to formation of the Clayton Brothers Quintet.
John's love for big bands led to formation of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra with drummer Jeff Hamilton, of which brother Jeff is a part. The current roster of the Clayton Brothers Quintet are Jeff and John, along with John's son Gerald Clayton (piano), Obed Calvaire (drums) and Terell Stafford (trumpet and flugelhorn).
They have over half-a-dozen albums to their credit, the last being "The Gathering" released in 2012
